Interior Design Renovations Underway for Senior Living Properties in New York

In 2017 a portfolio of eleven senior living communities in the Rochester, New York area was sold. Resulting from the transaction was an agreement for Watermark Communities, a senior living management company, to handle day-to-day operations. Watermark is one of the premier senior living operators in the nation, and their trusted interior design partner is DesignPoint.

Watermark has big plans to refresh the properties over the next five years. The first step of the strategic plan was to spend time at each of the eleven communities and create a model room at each location spanning from studio units, one & two bedroom suites.  DesignPoint interior designer Ashley Zepp spent nearly a month in upstate New York in early 2018 creating an on-site model at each community. The new model is a strategic step to enable each community to market their rooms and showcase interior design options for incoming residents to boost census. As rooms turnover in each community they will be refreshed with the new designs. Zepp and DesignPoint also provided recommendations for priorities and timelines for additional renovations at each community. The project will be ongoing for next 5 years and include plans to methodically renovate the lobbies, dining areas and common areas of each community.

“Our goal for this project is to bring the new properties up to Watermark’s standards, and to exceed those standards and revive the census,” says Zepp.
